Good morning Jim, I have to agree with several other folks, this site is the best on the web, made more useful because this important topic is one not familiar to many.
Believe it or not, sewage treatment is a relatively new concept. Not that long ago guess what cities did with their wastewater...they funneled it directly from the houses/businesses through tunnels under the city to a river. And guess where they got their drinking water from...often that same river.
It used to be pretty simple; in the old days if you wanted to build a house in an undeveloped area you would install an onsite septic system and wait for a treatment plant to get built. However as research and development on septic systems has progressed we now have more choices.
