Capital Improvements Program (1995) The SNWA launched a $2.1 billion public works program in 1995 to ensure that water delivery keeps pace with unprecedented growth in the Las Vegas Valley.
The SNWA Water Quality Laboratory and Applied Research & Development Center houses one of the most sophisticated municipal water quality laboratory complexes in the world.
The Southern Nevada Water Authority has two major water treatment facilities: the Alfred Merritt Smith Water Treatment Facility and the River Mountains Water Treatment Facility.
2. Approve the Amended and Restated Interlocal Agreement between the City of Boulder City and the Authority, which provides for the construction of raw water facilities and establishes a Raw Water Facilities Charge.
The River Mountains Facility treats and distributes water to residents of Henderson and parts of the Las Vegas Valley. The facility has a current capacity of 300 million gallons per day (mgd), and was designed to expand to 600 mgd.
